About SCS signer application

SCS signer application transforms your Android device into a secure digital signing tool for services that support the SCS interface. Whether you're authenticating transactions or generating legally binding digital signatures, this application provides enterprise-grade security through NFC-enabled smart cards and certified card readers.

Authenticate and sign with confidence using your device. The SCS signer application works seamlessly with NFC-enabled smart cards issued by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. If NFC isn't available, connect compatible card readers via USB-C or Bluetooth—ACS and SCM/Identive models are currently supported, with adapter options for standard USB readers. Your authentication method is flexible, but the security is absolute.

Currently integrated with Kelain for issuing electronic prescriptions, the SCS signer application operates within any standard web browser without requiring additional extensions or plugins. The application handles digital signature generation directly on your device, keeping sensitive cryptographic operations secure and local. All communication is protected through automatic HTTPS access enabled by a local SCS certificate installed during first setup.

Security is built into every aspect of this application. Your device must have a secure screen lock enabled to use the SCS signer application—this requirement is enforced during setup to protect your credentials and signing keys. The application cannot run on rooted devices due to security restrictions, ensuring the integrity of the signing process. When the local certificate is installed, Android may display a standard system notification about certificate installation; this is normal platform behavior and does not indicate a security threat.

Before using the SCS signer application with any service, confirm that the service supports the SCS interface. Integration varies by service provider. For testing and verification purposes, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency provides a dedicated testing site where you can validate your setup and signing capabilities.

Setup is straightforward but thorough. Initial startup will guide you through certificate installation and security configuration, ensuring your device meets all requirements before you begin signing. Whether you're a healthcare professional issuing digital prescriptions or any user needing secure electronic signatures, the SCS signer application delivers the authentication and signing capabilities you need with institutional-grade security.
